Super and Goffer League Night 1

Some quick feedback on the first night of Super & Goffer League.

We put out 15 players in 3 teams with the majority of the players being schoolboys or recent school leavers. A good blend of youth and experience - epitomized by the attached photo of Alan Glover who played against our newest member Ethan Richardson - 47 years his junior!! Remarkable that Al is still competing at this level at age 62 - legend!

Despite being without 5 of our regulars (Thami, Bona, Lukhanyo, Lubabalo, Jacques) and having lost first team regulars like Gerard, Murray, Siphelele & Adriaan during the off season we have put out 3 competitive teams.

All the results are on SportyHQ but in summary the Super league side went down 17-4 to a very strong Londt Park side. Ryan van Eyk had a very good win at no3. Remarkable considering he is in Grade 10 and started off last season in 4th league. Dean Venter is playing no1 for us and is still in Grade 10. Similarly Dean Brooker at 4 who is in Grade 10 or 11. Very exciting for the future or the club if you consider they could all be playing for us in 2 years time. In Goffer, the more experienced A side won a tough fixture against the B side - many of whom played 4th league last year and are going to improve hugely over the next year in 2nd league.

There was also great support from their parents at the courts who I believe appreciate the partnership with Grey and the work we are putting into developing their children through squash.
